Round 3 HR v Villa Maria
From the looks of the stands, many of you were there, so the recap will be short- Our girls jumped out to an early lead- in fact, at halftime, the chatter in the stands was: "There is no way Villa Maria can come back". Well- they did. Tie game after 3, tied after 4, Villa Maria by 4 after overtime. Hard fought, but heartbreaking nonetheless.
Some odd coincidences with last year's Hoban boys- Both teams reached the State Quarterfinals, both teams had their quarterfinal matches at Freedom High school, both teams jumped out to an early lead, and both teams ended up on the short end of the final score. Our girls seemed like they could beat the "curse of the Freedom Quarterfinal" today, but the final straw seemed to be the arrival of the teams playing after us. Imhotep, the team that unseated Hoban's boys last year, was scheduled to play after the girls. Once they arrived, near halftime, the game swung dramatically against the Royals. Coincidence? You decide.
